LABOR MUST CONSULT COMMUNITY ON CLOSING ENDEAVOUR HILLS POLICE STATION
Endeavour Hills police station has become the latest casualty of Daniel Andrews’ under-resourcing of Victorian Police.
In the face of soaring crime rates in south-eastern suburbs, it is unacceptable that a police station capable of providing a 24 hour police service will now close to its local community at 5pm on every Saturday and Sunday.
Despite significant community concern about Endeavour Hills police station closing early on weekends, Labor has refused to undertake community consultation to review this decision.
By contrast, Labor has urgently sought community consultation in response to a similar a recent decision to cut police station hours in Waurn Ponds, a suburb of Geelong where Police Minister Lisa Neville is a local MP.
It seems Daniel Andrews could not care less about the impact of closing Endeavour Hills police station early on weekends, while his Police Minister has neglected to seek consultation with the local community because she does not live nearby.
I call on the Andrews Government to immediately and urgently commence consultation with the Endeavour Hills community regarding the impact of significantly cutting the operating hours of its local police station on weekends.
