$15 million upgrade for Rowville Secondary College

Under a Liberals and Nationals Government, Rowville’s only secondary school will receive a major upgrade to give its students the modern facilities they deserve.

Built in the 1980s, Rowville Secondary College supports a student cohort of over 1800 students but is in desperate need of updates to its Western campus so that the facilities support the high-quality teaching and learning that occurs at the College.

The school is plagued by ongoing maintenance issues and has requested assistance to modernise classrooms and tackle major building defects such as dry rot and dampness from faulty gutters and drains, which the Andrews Labor Government has failed to address.

The funding will ultimately deliver new and upgraded facilities including art, technology and food technology classrooms, a new library, the resurfacing of the sports field and courts, refurbishment of STEM facilities and a new undercover outdoor teaching area.

Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett, said the students at Rowville Secondary College deserve fit-for-purpose facilities.

“This will give Rowville students the modern learning spaces they need to develop their skills and interests.”

Member for Rowville, Kim Wells, said every student deserves to have the very best education environment.

“Today’s announcement means the delivery of modern and safe classrooms and facilities that are vital for student health, wellbeing and development.”

“Only the Liberals and Nationals are committed to providing modern, world-class education, close to home for Rowville families.”
