$22,000 on junkets for former South Gippsland Labor Party Branch President

Daniel Andrews’ handpicked Latrobe Valley Authority (LVA) CEO, Karen Cain, has been revealed to have taken, not one, but two, luxury overseas junkets, costing Victorian taxpayers $21,856.59.

Documents released under Freedom of Information confirm that Ms Cain flew business class to Spain in September last year and also flew to South Africa in February this year.

These indulgent jaunts are on top of Ms Cain’s pay packet of over $200,000 a year.

Comments attributable to Shadow Attorney General, Edward O’Donohue:

“At a time when so many Latrobe Valley families are doing it tough, Daniel Andrews needs to explain why his hand-picked former Labor Party Branch President, and now LVA CEO, has spent over $22,000 of Victorian taxpayers’ money on luxury overseas junkets.

Rather than expensive, exotic taxpayer funded overseas conferences, Daniel Andrews and Karen Cain should be working with the Latrobe Valley community to create more desperately needed job opportunities.”
