The Andrews Labor Government needs to update hospital waiting list figures immediately.
Shadow Health Minister Georgie Crozier said “It’s just not good enough to have the government saying it’s waiting for the latest report.”
“With the government’s recent ham-fisted Code Brown, the figures are likely to be around one hundred thousand – that’s one hundred thousand people waiting for surgery they should be having.”
“The Premier should be concerned enough to be getting these figures in real time so action could be taken.”
“Victorians want to know when elective surgery will fully resume.”
“We have patients who are still being told they must wait. It’s simply not good enough.”
The Opposition is also concerned our hospitals are still declaring emergency measures as they cannot cope.
Albury Wodonga Health declared a ‘code yellow’ just last week with some ambulances unable to respond to calls.
The hospital said other state and local hospitals were also facing similar pressure.
Ms Crozier continued: “The Premier must stop sitting on his hands waiting to finalise a PR strategy.”
“This crisis has been years in the making.”
