Major safety concerns surrounding Labor’s failed Solar Homes scheme recently uncovered show that due to dodgy installations, lives are being placed at risk.
In Parliament today, Labor’s Minister for Solar Homes, Lily D’Ambrosio ducked and weaved questions about the disaster-ridden rooftop installation program by saying “It is not for me - I’m not an electrician”.
Last week the Andrews Labor Government boasted that: “Victoria is the only state in Australia that requires solar systems to be independently tested at the time of installation and provided with a certificate of electrical safety to demonstrate compliance”.
The Andrews Government has admitted that over half of the audited solar systems installed by discredited installation firm, Space Solar, were dangerous or needed rectification.
Daniel Andrews and his Solar Homes Minister owe it to Victorians to explain how on earth dangerous and defective solar systems were certified as safe.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy and Renewables, Ryan Smith:
“Nobody knows how many of the thousands of solar systems installed under Labor’s scheme have been tested by dodgy or incompetent testers.
“Daniel Andrews’ Solar Homes scheme is putting Victorians and their homes at risk just like Kevin Rudd’s infamous insulation scheme.
“The Andrews Labor Government, not innocent homeowners, should chase dodgy installers for compensation for Daniel Andrews’ failed solar program.”
