Thousands of Melburnians are today spending more time on trains and less time at home doing the things they enjoy thanks to Labor’s slowed-down train timetables.
Following months of #railfail where commuters have endured terrible train performance, Labor’s answer to make trains meet their timetable targets is to make the timetables slower.
The Andrews Labor Government has spent more than $2 billion in its botched level crossing removals which has not helped train performance at all.
Some passengers will spend more than half an hour per week on the slowed down trains.
On the Cranbourne Line 5,466 trains have run late and 2,081 trains have been ‘no shows’ in the past 12 months.
On the Pakenham Line 6,697 trains have run late and 2,673 trains have been ‘no shows’ in the past 12 months.
On neither the Cranbourne Line nor the Pakenham Line have punctuality targets been met since Labor signed the new contract with Metro Trains in 2017.

“Melburnians deserve a reliable train service to get them to and from work as quickly as possible and under Daniel Andrews they are not getting this.
“Labor’s rail fail is meaning Victorian commuters are being left at the station, getting home later and spending more time on the already crowded trains.
“Daniel Andrews needs to explain how he has spent billions of dollars only to make the trains run slower.”
