A Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will provide $2 million towards improvements to the sporting pavilion at Brandon Park Reserve in Glen Waverley.
Home to Mazenod Football Club and Mulgrave Wheelers Hill Cricket Club, Brandon Park Reserve will benefit from the investment with upgraded clubrooms, including improved changing facilities for female and male competitors and umpires.
Shadow Minister for Sport, Cindy McLeish, said the delivery of new sporting facilities was necessary for the growing community.
“All of the clubs at Brandon Park Reserve are seeing continued growth and this investment by the Liberals and Nationals will cater for existing members and ensure the future proofing of facilities.”
Member for Forest Hill and Liberal Candidate for Glen Waverley, Neil Angus, said the clubs were experiencing tremendous growth in participation.
“The Mulgrave Wheelers Hill Cricket Club is expecting its junior membership to surpass 100 children in the coming seasons, up from 65 in 2022.
“The Mazenod Football Club also celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and has entered into a strategic partnership with the Juventus Academy to focus on the development of young players from the age of three to 15 years.
“This significant investment by a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will help facilitate the increase in community sport participation expected post the pandemic and provide real solutions for the Glen Waverley community.”
