Can’t rely on the trains? You’re not alone

Victorians continue to experience a deterioration in the performance of our metropolitan train lines under the Andrews Labor government.

Cancellation rates across our metropolitan system have deteriorated by more than 40%: the 12 month average in 2014 was 2.3%; the average for 2018 was 2.8%.

The November 2014 figure, the last figure under the previous government, was 1.9%. The most recent figure released for December 2018 was 3.1% — a massive increase and a massive deterioration of more than 60% in cancellations.

With more than 2,000 metropolitan trains cancelled in December 2018 alone, people simply cannot rely on our trains.

Labor have been in government for 16 of the last 20 years and are squarely to blame for Melbourne’s poor rail infrastructure.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport (Metropolitan), David Davis:

“Passengers expects a safe, efficient, timely and reliable public transport system. With more and more trains being cancelled, and new Productivity Commission data showing nearly a third of Victorians feel unsafe using public transport at night, Labor is not providing it.”
