Carjackings continue to rise under Daniel Andrews

Today’s carjacking on the Monash Freeway highlights the ongoing increase in this type of violent crime throughout Victoria.

Total carjackings have risen 34.2% over the 12 months to December 2018 and incidents of aggravated carjackings causing injury increased over 112% over the same period.

The table below shows that violent carjackings are significantly escalating as a problem.

Comments attributable to David Southwick, Shadow Minister for Police:

“Violent carjackings are a growth industry in Daniel Andrews’ Victoria.

Despite their assurances they are getting on top of violent crime, the Andrews Labor Government doesn’t seem to have any answers to turn these numbers around.

Every violent crime leaves behind traumatised victims including family and friends so more of the same from Daniel Andrews isn’t good enough.”
