A Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will commit $5 million towards upgrades at Bonbeach Sports Reserve.
The local Bonbeach Junior Sports Club, including Football, Netball and Cricket, is growing, with nearly 300 keen young players, but is quickly outgrowing its current premises and is struggling to make use of playable space as the ovals turn into muddy bogs.
The funding will go towards the development of a new clubhouse with 120 car spaces, as well as lighting and drainage upgrades to the main oval.
Shadow Minister for Sport, Cindy McLeish, said the investment would benefit the broader community as participation growth continues.
“This new clubroom will offer the Bonbeach Junior Sporting Clubs room to grow and engage with more young sport enthusiasts across the region. It will increase female participation with new changerooms for both male and females.”
“We recognise the important role that being involved in social sports plays for our youth, especially for their physical and social health and wellbeing.
Liberal Candidate for Carrum, Bec Buchanan, said the upgrades will create a better experience for players, coaches, and family and friends.
“Upgraded playing fields, with improved lighting and drainage, will mean more training and games, and increased parking capacity will get cars off tight suburban streets.”
“Only the Liberals and Nationals will deliver these improvements for the community at Bonbeach Sports Reserve.”
