Corrections Victoria: A workplace culture in chaos

Reports today showing a cowardly attack on an intellectually disabled wheelchair-bound former inmate allegedly committed by three prison guards is another example of highly concerning behaviour within Corrections Victoria.

This incident comes after a number of Corrections Victoria staff have spoken out about cases of workplace misogyny, bullying and staff mismanagement over recent weeks.

Daniel Andrews must immediately commission an independent investigation into this disturbing incident and commit to publicly releasing the findings of this investigation.

The many hardworking and dedicated employees of Corrections Victoria, and the Victorian community as a whole, deserve to know exactly what happened in this incident and what action will be taken as a result.

These alleged incidents have shed light on concerning cultural and management issues within Corrections Victoria.

Daniel Andrews must provide a full explanation as to what is going on in our prison system and what he is doing to investigate and resolve these matters.
