Dandenong council area identified as hazardous waste hot spot

At a Parliamentary hearing this morning WorkSafe revealed that the Dandenong local government area is a hot spot for the illegal storage of hazardous and flammable industrial waste.

Melbourne residents have already been subjected to 3 hazard waste fires in the past 2 years.

This latest revelation shows that the health and wellbeing of families in Melbourne’s south-east is being placed at risk due to the inaction of the Andrews Labor Government.

We have an urgent problem with the storage and disposal of dangerous flammable waste in Victoria but the Andrews Labor Government has no solutions to fix it.

All Victorians should be concerned that when it comes to dangerous waste storage we know that tens of millions of litres of flammable material is being stored illegally and that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
