Daniel Andrews’ Fines Victoria fiasco goes from bad to worse

Dan’s ballooning bad debt spiral continues, as new secret documents reveal the Fines Victoria scandal is much worse than first thought.

Yesterday it was revealed by the Auditor-General that yet another IT project has been botched by Daniel Andrews’ incompetent Labor Government with the VIEW Fines Victoria IT system already over time and three times over budget.

But today, following the release of key documents to the Opposition under Freedom of Information (FOI), we learn that the true cost of this bungled project is much, much more, with up to $760 million of fine debt written off between December 2017 and June 2020.

Further, the FOI information reveals the Andrews Labor Government had no visibility of the ‘actual’ fines bad debt data for over two years due to the inadequacies of the problem plagued Fines Victoria VIEW system.

Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes owes it to Victorians to come clean on just how far the Andrews Labor Government has allowed the Fines Victoria fiasco to spiral.

Comments attributable to Shadow Attorney-General Edward O’Donohue

“Another day and another revelation about the cost of the incompetence of the Andrews Labor Government.”

“At a time when doctors and nurses need extra resources to manage Labor’s health crisis, Attorney-General Symes must reveal how much more funding is now needed to finish this project and fix its botched Fines Victoria IT system, once and for all.

“The Andrews Labor Government is simply incapable of delivering the basic services that Victorians need and expect.”
