Daniel Andrews continues to be left behind on housing affordability as the Commonwealth Government expands its successful first home buyer scheme.
Instead of acting to help first home buyers get into the property market, Daniel Andrews is addicted to slugging them with new housing taxes.
The Andrews Labor Government has now introduced or increased 17 property based taxes and plans a new big housing tax that will add $20,000 to the cost of a Melbourne home.
Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, David Southwick said Daniel Andrews has waved the white flag on home ownership for young Victorians.
“Daniel Andrews is desperately out of touch when he says young Victorians don’t want to own their own home.”
“How can anyone back Labor to ease housing prices when Daniel Andrews doesn’t even think it is a priority for young Victorians?”
“Labor’s new taxes will only push prices higher and push dreams of home ownership even further away.”
“Instead of dismissing aspirational Victorians, a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will back young Victorians to buy their own home.”
