Revelations in the Herald Sun today about the shocking rate of drug-fuelled violence at the Royal Melbourne Hospital must prompt action from Daniel Andrews.
Vulnerable patients and staff have the right to be safe in Victorian hospitals and should not be subjected to drug-fuelled outbursts.
Victorian hospitals are already struggling under the weight of Daniel Andrews’ funding cuts and the stress of violence in hospitals is adding to more staff on WorkCover and leaving the system.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:
“Andrews must ensure that Victorian hospitals have the security and resources they need to keep patients and staff safe.
“Patients in Victorian hospitals should be able to focus on getting back on their feet without being subjected to drug-fuelled violence.
“Everything Andrews has tried with Victoria’s drug problem has failed and he has no plan to deal with this scourge.”
