Family budgets stretched under Labor’s taxes and mismanagement

Victoria is fast becoming the most expensive place to live in the nation as the State Government continues to impose punishing new taxes and charges on families and small businesses.

Since November 2014, the Andrews Labor Government has imposed 39 new or increased charges on Victorian households and small businesses, including on jobs, family homes, students, electric vehicles and transport tolls.

As a result, Victoria has become Australia’s most expensive state to educate a child and build a family home as the price of housing, petrol, fresh fruit and vegetables and everyday items continues to rise.

Ever increasing taxes and charges are a handbrake on Victoria’s recovery as billions of dollars are being wasted covering up major project cost blowouts - causing our state to fall even further behind.

A Matthew Guy Liberal Nationals Government will stop the waste and mismanagement and put people’s money into the healthcare, education, roads and mental health support Victorians need to recover and rebuild.

Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer, David Davis:

“Labor’s taxes and mismanagement means Victorian families are paying more but getting less and causing our state to fall further behind.

“Instead of wasting billions on major project blowouts, people’s money should be spend on the healthcare, roads, education and mental health services we need to recover and rebuild.

“A Matthew Guy Government will stop the waste, deliver the services we need and keep more money in families pockets.”
