My constituency question is to the Minister for Ambulance Services. I refer to an incident which occurred at Village Cinemas in Fountain Gate shopping centre on 24 May where an elderly woman, who is nearly 80 years old, missed some steps going down the steps at the cinema and sustained a fracture to her cheek, a laceration to her eye socket and severe bruising to her clavicle, shoulder, femur and fibula. Despite Village Cinemas and her family calling an ambulance several times, the woman remained sitting at the base of the stairs for over 4 hours. Ultimately her family members decided to take her to hospital when an ambulance had not arrived after 4 hours. So my question to the Minister for Ambulance Services is: why was this elderly woman forced to wait more than 4 hours for an ambulance which never arrived?
