Job ad numbers in Victoria still the worst

Today’s job advertisement numbers have confirmed that under the Andrews Labor Government, there is less growth in new job advertisements in Victoria than any other state compared to this time last year.

The numbers, released on the Commonwealth Government’s Labour Market Information Portal, show that job advertisements have risen by just 4.5 per cent in Victoria in the last 12 months, the smallest increase of any Australian state.

In the same 12 month period, job advertisements in Australia overall have increased by 11.2 per cent.

Over 140,000 Victorians have lost their job due to Daniel Andrews’ incompetent management of hotel quarantine in Victoria.

Due to Labor’s second wave, there are now more unemployed women in Victoria than ever before, with small and medium-sized businesses having shed jobs at over four times the rate of larger businesses.

Victoria in a jobs crisis with one in five Victorians are either out of a job or can't get the hours that they want.

Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley:

“Today’s job ad numbers confirm Victoria’s jobs crisis and just how tough it is to find a job in Victoria, all because Labor botched hotel quarantine.

“More Victorians have lost their jobs than any other state, as Victoria has endured Labor’s lockdowns and second wave of COVID-19.

“Victorians who have lost their jobs, mostly women, are being abandoned by Daniel Andrews and Labor.

“Victorians looking for work are struggling. They need a plan to get people back to work and back in business, but Labor only has a plan for more debt and waste.”
