Labor’s cheap and nasty airport rail link

In Question Time today, Labor’s Transport Infrastructure Minister, Jacinta Allan has refused to rule out building the long-promised airport rail link on the cheap, permanently condemning regional train passengers to slow and unreliable travel.

The proper construction of an airport rail link is critical to Victoria’s future rail infrastructure and unless dedicated tracks are built for a new airport rail link, Ballarat, Geelong and Bendigo line passengers will suffer longer travel times.

Under Daniel Andrews, regional train passengers are already suffering with shockingly unreliable train services, and under Labor’s plan for the airport rail link, this is set to continue.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, David Davis:

“Daniel Andrews can’t manage major projects and can’t manage the budget, and as a result Labor is planning on doing the airport rail link on the cheap, meaning longer travel times for regional train passengers.”

“Once again Daniel Andrews is showing his contempt for regional train passengers, condemning them to slow and unreliable travel by not properly funding the airport rail link.”
