Daniel Andrews is deluding Victorians with his so-called trial of leave bonuses for casual workers.
The scheme has no long-term funding path and can’t be supported without a new tax that would cost jobs.
Labor Minister for Workplace Safety, Ingrid Stitt confirmed a levy on employers was being planned to fund the scheme.
Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations and Workplace Safety, Nick Wakeling said: “This is nothing but a cruel hoax on workers.
“Casual workers already receive a 25 per cent loading in lieu of entitlements.
“This bonus scheme could only be paid for by a big new tax - Daniel Andrews’ 42nd new tax despite promising no new taxes.
“Such a tax would smash jobs, not protect workers.
“It would be yet another hit on small business owners and their families already struggling after the Andrews Labor Government’s record lockdowns.
“The Opposition will not support a scheme that relies on a new tax.”
There will be no new taxes under a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government.
