Labor’s recycling crisis deepens

Labor’s recycling crisis has gone from bad to worse. Today yet another Victorian recycling company, Phoenix Environmental Group Pty Ltd, has been ordered by the Environmental Protection Authority to cease accepting materials.

This follows Victoria’s largest recycling company, SKM Recycling, being ordered to be wound up last week, leaving 32 Victorian councils without a contractor to manage their recycling.

Victorian recycling is being sent to landfill because the Andrews Labor Government has not had a waste management policy for the past 5 years and allowed this crisis to develop.

Our environment is suffering while Labor spins.

There are no “contingency plans” in place; just panic and platitudes.

This is despite the Andrews Labor Government holding over $500 million of taxpayers’ money in bin taxes that are collected to fix this exact problem.

It is clear that Labor’s Environment Minister, Lily D’Ambrosio, is not up to the job of fixing this mess. Daniel Andrews must sideline his inept Minister, take control and fix this crisis without further delay.
