Labor’s regional jobs let down – yet again

Small Areas Labour Force Data has revealed that Daniel Andrews and Labor have continued to abandon jobs in regional Victoria.

The significant decline in regional jobs has a real impact across regional communities. These are jobs that support families, that support local communities and importantly, ensure that regional Victoria continues to grow and prosper.

Since Andrews was elected there are more than 1,100 fewer people with jobs in the Northern Grampians. Across the Mallee and North Western Victoria, there has also been significant declines. In Mildura, there are 3,493 fewer people jobs since Andrews was elected, for the same time period, Swan Hill has 1,880 fewer people with jobs and Horsham 1,840 fewer people with jobs.

At the last election Andrews was all too happy to tell Victorians that he was listening to regional communities, but this is yet another example of Labor’s failures.

We all know that Andrews and Labor are only interested in creating jobs in Melbourne for all their Melbourne projects.

Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley:

“It is clear, yet again, that Andrews and Labor have abandoned people looking for work in regional Victoria.

“Regional Victoria needs a government that creates jobs so people can get on with living their lives, safe in the knowledge of where their next pay check is coming from, and not one that sacrifices their living for inner-city votes.

“Andrews and Labor need to explain to regional Victorians why they care more about jobs inside the tram tracks than they do about jobs in regional Victoria.”
