Labor’s unwanted metro rail punctuality gift to commuters

Delayed December metro rail data has confirmed Labor’s unwelcome and unwanted Christmas gift to commuters – a punctuality fail for December – with 10 out of 16 lines (62 per cent) – failing Labor’s own punctuality standard.

To make matters worse, daily metro punctuality data for December shows that the punctuality fails occurred on most workdays – with trains on the network not meeting the acceptable punctuality levels on at least 15 workdays out of 20 – a 75% fail.

Labor’s December punctuality fail is not isolated. In fact, Daniel Andrews and Minister Horne have delivered a disastrous 100% monthly punctuality fail to metro commuters on the Craigieburn, Cranbourne, Frankston, Pakenham and Sunbury lines.

This clearly shows that commuters can’t rely on our train network to get them to where they need to go – when they need to get there. Labor and Minister Horne simply can’t deliver.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport (Metropolitan), David Davis:

“The Liberal Nationals inherited metropolitan trains performing at 87.2% (November 2010) punctuality, and delivered a metro system performing at 94.3% punctuality by November 2014 – a substantial improvement of 7.1 percentage points.

“Despite the billions spent on rail infrastructure projects and endless empty promises, all Daniel Andrews and Labor have delivered to metro rail commuters is a serious and sustained punctuality decline.”
