Today in Question Time, the Liberal Nationals uncovered that after 14 months the Andrews Labor Government still hasn’t appointed a State Building Inspector to provide expert advice on flammable cladding.
On 1 December 2017 in a press release titled “Taking action on cladding”, the Andrews Labor Government boasted it was taking action to keep Victorians safe from flammable cladding.
But one year and two months later, the Andrews Labor Government has still not appointed a State Building Inspector to oversee the checking and removal of cladding from Victorian buildings.
This is a critically serious issue of public safety for residents, lives are at risk, yet it beggars belief that this important appointment still hasn’t been made.
Instead of regularly chest beating about the last election, this Labor Government should be focused on getting the basics of their job done like telling these residents of high rise buildings with flammable cladding if their homes are unsafe.
