Many local sporting clubs will benefit from a $2.5 million commitment from the Victorian Liberals and Nationals to upgrade facilities at Perc Allison Reserve in Beaconsfield.
Perc Allison Reserve is home to a number of local cricket, AFL and tennis clubs, and is used by hundreds of people of all ages.
The funding commitment will go toward the installation of new solar lighting around the precinct, which will improve safety for all players and spectators.
New fencing will also be installed, and the playing surface will be better equipped to handle all conditions with a major upgrade to the oval and drainage.
Furthermore, two tennis courts will be resurfaced and additional lighting will be installed so that players can serve and volley day and night.
A Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government is committed to delivering better access for Victorians of all abilities, and the upgrades will allow for better facilities to be used by all.
Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy, said the commitment would encourage children to get active.
“It’s important to support grassroots programs which encourage Victorian children to take up a sport,” Mr Guy said.
“This commitment by the Liberals and Nationals will deliver better facilities so these clubs can continue to have a place to call home.”
