Assaults in Victorian schools, TAFEs and universities have increased every year for the past four years under Daniel Andrews, according to new data released by Victoria’s Independent Crime Statistics Agency.
In updated crime statistics released today by the Crime Statistics Agency to the Liberal Nationals, the number of assaults in an education location has risen from 445 in March 2015 to 758 in March 2019.
The latest data for assaults in an education location comes after a series of violent incidents in Victorian schools over the past two weeks, including a second alleged assault at Berwick College yesterday.
In addition to the significant rise in assaults in schools, the Crime Statistics Agency has also reported an 84.5% increase in stalking, harassment and threatening behaviour in education locations.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Cindy McLeish:
“All Victorian parents should be able to send their children to school with the peace of mind that they will be in a safe and nurturing environment.
Unfortunately under Daniel Andrews we have seen a growing trend of violent crime in our streets, homes and now our schools and other education locations.
Daniel Andrews and James Merlino must stop hiding behind their ‘Education State’ propaganda slogan and immediately act to keep Victorian students and staff safe.”
