New Corrections Minister but same old problems

Reports today that following an IBAC investigation a former prison guard will be jailed for accepting bribes is yet another example of Victoria’s broken corrections system under this Labor Government.

Lyndon Turvey, a former Loddon Prison employee received bribes of more than $24,000 as part of an operation to smuggle contraband including tobacco, lighters, cigarettes and papers into the prison.

Under Daniel Andrews, Victoria has the nation’s most expensive yet worst performing corrections system.

It is unacceptable that taxpayers are paying the highest costs in Australia yet getting the worst system.

It’s yet more evidence that Labor Governments spend taxpayers’ money inefficiently for terrible outcomes.

Shadow Minister for Corrections
