When your loved one is sick and in need of critical care, every second counts. Yet under Daniel Andrews, Code 1 ambulance response times in 13 regional and rural local government areas (LGAs) have gone backwards.
Code 1 ambulance call-outs are the most urgent calls, when the lives of patients are at risk and yet regional and rural Victorians are seeing ambulance wait times increasing.
Daniel Andrews talked up his country credentials before the election, in particular his connections to Wangaratta however after the election it is evident that vital, life-saving ambulance services for this area and 12 others have declined.
Daniel Andrews has now given the hapless former Youth Justice Minister, Jenny Mikakos, responsibility for Ambulance Services. She must explain why these critical services in regional and rural Victoria are deteriorating.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:
“Before the election Daniel Andrews said ‘every second counts’ but it’s now been revealed that many regional and rural Victorians are seeing critical ambulance response times increasing.
Just because you live in regional or rural Victoria shouldn’t mean you have to wait longer for a life-saving ambulance. However, under Labor far too many areas are seeing ambulance wait times increasing.”
