Confirmation by Victoria Police this afternoon that two workers at the North Richmond Community Health centre, the location of Daniel Andrews’ drug injecting facility, were among eight people arrested for drug trafficking is proof the Andrews Government has failed the Richmond community.
In a further embarrassment for the Andrews Government, one of those workers was arrested today whilst working at the centre.
The Coroner has confirmed more overdoses are occurring on the streets, the Police Association has detailed crime has increased, small businesses report a 53% decline in revenue, Ambulance Victoria data shows more callouts and local residents are living in fear.
The Andrews Labor Government’s legislation to establish the injecting centre had six main objectives. They have failed on all six.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Police, David Southwick:
“What else needs to go wrong before the Andrews Government starts listening to the community concerns regarding this drug injecting facility?
“Daniel Andrews and Martin Foley must explain how many times workers have supplied drugs to users and whether the licence to operate the injecting facility has been breached.
“In fifteen months, Daniel Andrews has turned a safe community health centre with a thriving maternal and child service into a drug dealing hotspot.”
