This afternoon, the head of Victoria’s triple-zero emergency call service the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) has resigned.
With emergency call wait times ballooning and several recent deaths linked to long triple-zero delays, this is worst possible time for chaos and instability within ESTA.
Due to a failure to plan for an increase in calls as Victoria emerges from lockdown, people are dying on hold and there are no excuses.
Daniel Andrews has failed to deliver the additional resources our emergency services were always going to need.
Victorians deserve a prompt, professional response when faced with an emergency. The Andrews Labor Government must immediately act and restore confidence in our triple-zero hotline.
