The Ombudsman’s follow-up report released today shows that the Andrews Labor Government cannot be trusted to manage WorkCover.
In 2016, the Ombudsman identified that WorkSafe needed to address unfair practices and ensure proper oversight of complex WorkCover claims. But since then, the Andrews Government has comprehensively failed to act.
And despite today’s damning findings, Daniel Andrews still arrogantly wants to rip $700 million out of the WorkCover system.
As the Ministers responsible for WorkCover since 2016, Robin Scott and Jill Hennessy should be apologising to Victorians who’ve been let down by the system.
The Liberal Nationals support the Ombudsman’s call for an independent review to make the WorkCover system fairer for all.
