The Andrews Labor Government with the support of Catherine Cumming, Fiona Patten and Andy Meddick has blocked a Parliamentary inquiry into Victoria’s cladding crisis.
There has been too much secrecy and hiding of information by the Andrews Labor Government over flammable cladding and it’s putting lives and safety at risk. Many Victorians still don’t know they are potentially living in a property that’s a fire trap.
The inquiry would have examined where the burden of cost should lie in replacing the flammable cladding as well as impact on home owners’ credit ratings, finances, asset value and insurance premiums. The inquiry was also to examine the adequacy of the Victorian Building Authority’s audit and cladding taskforce.
It’s beggars belief that the Andrews Labor Government and crossbenchers opposed this Parliamentary examination into the cladding crisis.
This is a government that refuses to be open and transparent with Victorians.
