Barely a day since Daniel Andrews’ destructive CFA bill became law and already United Firefighters Union secretary Peter Marshall is using the union’s iron grip on the fire services to direct management decisions.
Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville’s refusal to back Dan Stephens – the Chief of the MFB who was head-hunted by the Andrews Labor Government from the UK but targeted by the Union before he even arrived – sends a message about who really has control of Victoria’s fire services.
It’s only day one and the union already has more of a say on the new Commissioner than the Minister.
Ms Neville is another Andrews Labor Government Minister who won’t back those who dare to stand against the man the Premier refused to name.
There’s been a combined 300 years of emergency services management knowledge lost since Daniel Andrews started his war with our CFA - each of those for daring to stand up for community safety and to not support Peter Marshall’s quest for control.
In just five years under Labor the CFA has lost 3 749 operational volunteers; this is 9.8 per cent of operational volunteers who have walked away.
With many important decisions for volunteers’ future with the CFA still yet to be made, what hope do volunteers have of getting a fair go under divisive Daniel Andrews.
