The Legislative Council has this week supported the Liberal Nationals demand that the Andrews Labor Government come clean about the best solution for airport rail.
Victorians are outraged by Andrews’ plans to run airport rail through Melbourne Metro, stealing capacity from already overcrowded lines to the north and west and further displacing and delaying rail to and from the regions.
The motion requires the Andrews Government to table in the Council by Wednesday, 18 March 2020, the Melbourne Airport Rail Link Strategic Business Case, or similar, commissioned by the Federal and State Governments.
Comments attributable to the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, David Davis:
“Victorians know Labor’s cheap airport rail plan would be a terrible outcome locking in overcrowding, congestion and poor performance of rail for decades.
“The Andrews Labor Government will stuff rail transport in the west and the north for decades to come.
“Labor’s half-baked airport rail plans will be exposed for all to see by the documents demanded by the Legislative Council.”
