The Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC) has heard this morning that the Andrews Labor Government have contracted a New South Wales company to provide the Baby Bundle for new parents.
The $2.9 million contract to Baobag in Brookvale, NSW is another revelation at PAEC of the Andrews Government contracting key commitments to interstate or overseas organisations.
During this morning’s hearing, both Minister Jenny Mikakos and DHHS Secretary Kym Peake could not confirm how many other items or how much taxpayer funds had gone to interstate competitors to supply the Baby Bundle products.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:
“Yet again the Andrews Labor Government is giving lucrative contracts to NSW small businesses instead of looking after local jobs.
This $3 million contract would have been a great boost for the Victorian economy and jobs but instead, our Premier has written out a big cheque to NSW.”
