Reports today of attacks on staff at both the Malmsbury and Parkville Youth Justice Centres continue to raise the question: exactly who is in charge of our youth detention centres in Victoria?
At Malmsbury this week there are reports of assaults on three staff, one with a possible broken nose and cheekbone.
At Parkville 30 alleged assaults occurred on Sunday, including one alleged assault of a staff member.
This shocking spree of violence has been described as “another day at Parkville”.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Youth Justice, Brad Battin:
“Under Daniel Andrews and Labor the violence, chaos and mayhem continues unabated in Victoria’s youth justice facilities.
With violent assaults a daily occurrence in Victoria’s youth justice system, the community is rightly asking: who is actually running our youth detention centres?”
